John Matteo, President of the firm, currently chairs the Business and Employment Law Practice Groups. He also currently serves on the Firm’s Executive Committee. John concentrates his practice on business and commercial legal matters, including those arising in health care and Real Estate transactions.

He has represented sellers and purchasers in multi-million dollar acquisitions and financings and has counseled several businesses on a wide range of commercial issues, including, structuring business entities and business transactions, stock agreements, contracts, leasing, Real Estate purchases, corporate governance issues, workout agreements, bankruptcy, and general business advice, including employment issues. John also represents several non-profit organizations on similar types of issues including obtaining tax-exempt status and compliance with IRC 501(c) regulations. John also assists business owners and individuals on succession and estate planning issues, including the preparation of wills, trusts, living wills, advance directives and family LLCs.

John regularly advises hospitals, health care providers, and organizations on similar business issues, as well as particular health law related issues. He has had the unique opportunity to serve as acting in-house counsel support to a major specialty hospital in the District of Columbia as well as a national trade association.

John is very active in a number of civic and professional organizations, including the Greater Washington Board of Trade. In 2006, he served as Chair of the Montgomery County Regional Advisory Board of the United Way. In 2004, John was named to the Board of Directors of the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. and is presently Chair. He has been a frequent lecturer to several metropolitan area organizations on business, Real Estate and health law issues, and from 1997-2006, he taught Legal Issues in Health Care at George Mason University. John is past-president and past board member of the Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County, Maryland.
