Mr. Sykstus is an Associate at Jackson & Campbell, P.C. and a member of the Firm’s Health Law Practice Group.  Tom joins the Firm with experience in a variety of medical malpractice cases as well as prior work in the areas of Veterans Affairs and consumer law.  As a veteran himself, Tom has experience in handling Veterans Affairs Disability claims through appeal.  He now focuses his practice on assisting hospitals and physicians that need representation against civil claims and Board of Medicine investigations.

Tom earned his LL.M. in Litigation and Dispute Resolution from George Washington University School of Law after receiving his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and his B.A in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Alabama.  During law school, Tom was an Associate Editor of the Alabama Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Law Review.  He also worked in the Domestic Violence Clinic providing free legal services to victims of domestic violence in the community.  Tom is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, New York and Alabama.

Tom also served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Combat Medical Specialist assigned to the 75th Combat Support Hospital.  He spent most of his six years there assigned to the Emergency Department.  Through his medic training, he obtained his EMT-B license.
